Job Overview:
The Protection (UDOC) Team Leader position is designed to implement UDOC/Protection activities and support community engagement initiatives as outlined by the Country Office's strategy and policy frameworks. The role aims to enhance protection and access to assistance for communities affected by displacement. The team leader will oversee the implementation of protection activities and coordinate community engagement efforts in alignment with NRC's global guidance. This includes identifying needs and gaps in urban settings and providing feedback on outreach and integrated programming through Multi-Purpose Service Centers (MPSCs). The position requires a proactive approach to community engagement and collaboration with local authorities and stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery and advocacy for the rights of refugees and displaced individuals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Protection Team Leader will be responsible for adhering to NRC policies and procedures, contributing to the development of the Protection/UDOC strategy, managing and implementing delegated projects, and ensuring high technical quality in project execution. Specific responsibilities include overseeing activities in MPSCs, managing service contracts, identifying implementation opportunities, conducting multi-sectoral needs assessments, mentoring local partners, documenting progress, and participating in coordination forums with stakeholders. The role also involves providing input for proposal writing and fundraising efforts, ensuring that projects target the most vulnerable beneficiaries, and promoting the rights of refugees in line with advocacy strategies.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess experience working in humanitarian or recovery contexts, particularly in coordinating or managerial roles. Familiarity with project cycle management (PCM) and documented results related to the position's responsibilities are essential. Knowledge of leadership skills and fluency in English, both written and verbal, are required. Additionally, candidates should have the ability to transfer knowledge in protection, experience working with local communities, and an understanding of the status and needs of Afghan refugees in Iran.
Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is necessary for this position, ideally in fields related to humanitarian assistance, social sciences, or international relations. Candidates should have a strong understanding of the principles of protection and community engagement, as well as the ability to apply these principles in a practical context.
Experience:
The position requires a significant level of experience, particularly in humanitarian settings. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing projects and coordinating activities in complex and volatile environments. Experience working with local communities and understanding the dynamics of displacement in Iran is highly valued.
Languages:

The contract for this position includes a 3-month probation period with the possibility of extension. The duty station is in Kerman, Iran, with a significant portion of the role involving field visits (approximately 70%) to other provinces where NRC operates, such as Hormozgan, Sistan & Balouchestan, and Yazd.
