Job Overview: The Education Officer plays a crucial role in implementing education activities within the Bekaa area of Lebanon. This position is responsible for coordinating educational programs, ensuring adherence to NRC policies and donor requirements, and engaging with communities and local leaders. The officer will break down annual operational plans into actionable weekly, monthly, and quarterly plans, ensuring that all educational activities are executed effectively and efficiently. The role also involves supervising and training team members, preparing progress reports, and exploring new technologies and methods to enhance the quality of educational initiatives. The Education Officer must ensure that all activities align with NRC’s Protection mainstreaming guidelines and address any concerns appropriately. This position requires a proactive approach to community engagement and the ability to foster positive relationships with various stakeholders, including refugees, local authorities, and other local actors.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Education Officer will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: coordinating education activities according to established strategies and budgets; ensuring compliance with NRC policies and donor requirements; engaging with communities to inform them about educational initiatives; developing and distributing educational materials; supervising and training team members; preparing periodic reports on progress and outcomes; investigating and implementing new educational technologies and methods; ensuring adherence to protection guidelines; conducting education assessments; designing training programs based on identified needs; creating a safe and conducive learning environment; maintaining positive relations with local communities; planning outreach work and conducting information sessions; organizing awareness sessions for children and parents; monitoring and maintaining quality education programs; and carrying out administrative tasks as required. The officer will also be responsible for data collection and entry for monitoring and evaluation processes, ensuring timely reporting to supervisors, and maintaining an organized archive system.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field, along with 2-3 years of experience working in the education sector, particularly in a humanitarian or recovery context. Strong documentation, research, and report writing skills are essential, as well as proficiency in both English and Arabic, both written and spoken. Experience in designing and presenting training programs is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong planning and organizational skills, the ability to work effectively in insecure environments, and a commitment to working collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is a Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively implement educational programs and initiatives within the context of humanitarian work.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have 2-3 years of relevant experience in the education field, particularly as a teacher or trainer in a humanitarian or recovery context. Candidates should also have a proven track record of successfully designing and implementing educational programs and training initiatives.

Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
