Job Overview:
The position of Gender Expert is crucial for supporting the implementation and monitoring of the Project Gender Action Plan (GAP). The expert will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure that gender considerations are integrated into project planning and execution. This role involves analyzing gender-related data, providing recommendations for gender-sensitive policies, and facilitating training sessions to enhance gender awareness among project staff and beneficiaries. The Gender Expert will also be responsible for monitoring the progress of gender-related initiatives and reporting on outcomes to ensure accountability and transparency in the project's gender objectives. The assignment is set to commence in April 2025 and will continue until December 2026, providing ample opportunity for the expert to make a significant impact on gender equality within the project framework.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Gender Expert will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

• Conducting gender analysis to identify gaps and opportunities within the project framework.
• Developing and implementing strategies to promote gender equality and women's empowerment in project activities.
• Collaborating with project teams to ensure gender considerations are integrated into all aspects of project planning and implementation.
• Providing technical assistance and guidance on gender-related issues to project staff and stakeholders.
• Designing and facilitating training workshops on gender sensitivity and awareness for project personnel.
• Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of gender initiatives and reporting on progress to UNDP and other stakeholders.
• Engaging with local communities and organizations to promote gender equality and gather feedback on project impact.
• Preparing reports and documentation related to gender activities and outcomes for submission to UNDP.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in gender studies, social sciences, or a related field. They should have proven experience in gender analysis and the implementation of gender action plans in development projects. Familiarity with UNDP's policies and procedures regarding gender equality is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, and excellent communication skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a Master's degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field is required. Candidates with a PhD in a relevant discipline will be given preference. Relevant certifications in gender analysis or project management will also be considered an asset.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of professional experience in gender-related roles, particularly in the context of international development projects. Experience working with UN agencies or similar organizations is highly desirable. Proven track record in developing and implementing gender strategies and action plans is essential, along with experience in monitoring and evaluating gender initiatives.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of the local language (Macedonian or Albanian) is considered an asset and will enhance communication with local stakeholders. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the region may also be beneficial.
