The Gender Expert will also be responsible for monitoring the progress of gender-related initiatives and reporting on outcomes to ensure accountability and transparency in the project's gender objectives. The assignment is set to commence in April 2025 and will continue until December 2026, providing ample opportunity for the expert to make a significant impact on gender equality within the project framework.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Gender Expert will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in gender studies, social sciences, or a related field. They should have proven experience in gender analysis and the implementation of gender action plans in development projects. Familiarity with UNDP's policies and procedures regarding gender equality is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, and excellent communication skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
Educational Background:
A minimum of a Master's degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field is required. Candidates with a PhD in a relevant discipline will be given preference. Relevant certifications in gender analysis or project management will also be considered an asset.
Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of professional experience in gender-related roles, particularly in the context of international development projects. Experience working with UN agencies or similar organizations is highly desirable. Proven track record in developing and implementing gender strategies and action plans is essential, along with experience in monitoring and evaluating gender initiatives.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of the local language (Macedonian or Albanian) is considered an asset and will enhance communication with local stakeholders. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the region may also be beneficial.
