Job Overview: The position of Praktikant*in in the PACT project involves working on significant energy policy topics and questions related to international development cooperation. The intern will engage in research activities, analyze topics at the intersection of the energy sector and development cooperation, and prepare statements, overviews, and presentations. The role also includes supporting the creation of knowledge products, such as summaries of international energy initiatives and the GIZ energy portfolio, as well as providing organizational and administrative support in daily operations and knowledge management. The intern may also assist in the logistical preparation, execution, and follow-up of project events. There is an opportunity to develop a detailed technical paper as part of the internship, depending on mutual agreement.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's responsibilities will include:
Supporting the team through research activities and the analysis of energy policy topics.
Preparing statements, overviews, and presentations related to energy and development cooperation.
Assisting in the creation of knowledge products, including summaries of international energy initiatives and the GIZ energy portfolio.
Providing content-related, organizational, and administrative support in daily operations and knowledge management.
Assisting in the logistical preparation, execution, and follow-up of project events.
Potentially developing a detailed technical paper as part of the internship, based on prior agreement.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in engineering, environmental science, economics, or political science with a focus on energy policy and/or economics. They should have completed at least their foundational studies. A solid understanding of the energy sector and energy policy issues, such as funding mechanisms, energy system planning, financing issues, and electricity market design, is essential. Candidates should have a keen interest in sustainable energy systems in developing and emerging countries and ideally possess some experience in development cooperation. Proficiency in MS Office and digital media is required, along with the ability to work independently and proactively. Fluency in German and English, both spoken and written, is mandatory for this position.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes being currently enrolled in a relevant degree program, such as engineering, environmental science, economics, or political science, with a specialization in energy policy or economics. Candidates should have completed their foundational studies and possess a solid understanding of energy sector dynamics and policy issues.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have some level of experience in the energy sector or development cooperation. This could be through academic projects, internships, or relevant coursework that demonstrates an understanding of energy policy and sustainable energy systems, particularly in the context of developing countries.
Languages: Fluency in both German and English is mandatory for this position, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not explicitly required.

Candidates must be currently enrolled in a program that requires an internship or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.
