Job Overview:
The Driver position at UNFPA is crucial for providing reliable and safe transportation services to the Country Office. Reporting to the HR & Admin Associate, the Driver is expected to maintain high standards of discretion and integrity while demonstrating a client-oriented approach. The role involves not only driving office vehicles for UNFPA staff and high-ranking officials but also managing vehicle maintenance, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and assisting with administrative duties as needed. The Driver will be expected to navigate local traffic and road conditions effectively, ensuring timely arrivals for meetings and events. This position plays a vital role in supporting the operational efficiency of the UNFPA office and contributing to the organization's mission of promoting reproductive health and rights.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: driving office vehicles for the transport of UNFPA staff and visitors, including high-ranking officials; delivering and collecting mail and documentation; meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport and managing visa and customs formalities; conducting minor repairs and cleaning of vehicles; arranging for major repairs and services; keeping daily vehicle logs; assisting in the preparation of vehicle maintenance plans and history reports; staying informed about traffic, road, and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security issues; ensuring compliance with UNFPA and UNDSS safety rules; contributing to location reviews and participating in office trainings; tracking insurance and tax formalities; acting as a translator for official passengers when necessary; engaging in One UN related activities; and performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license with at least five years of driving experience. A minimum of three years of work experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy, or UN system is required, along with a proven safe driving record. Applicants should have a thorough understanding of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol, local roads, and defensive driving skills. Skills in minor vehicle repairs are essential, and similar experience in another international agency or diplomatic mission is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is the completion of Secondary Level Education. This foundational education is necessary to ensure that the candidate has the basic knowledge and skills required for the role.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of three years of relevant work experience as a driver, particularly in an international context such as with the UN or other diplomatic missions. This experience should demonstrate a strong understanding of driving protocols and safety regulations, as well as a commitment to maintaining a safe driving record.

Languages:
Proficiency in written and spoken English and Kinyarwanda is mandatory for this position. Additionally, a basic knowledge of French is considered an advantage, enhancing communication capabilities within the diverse environment of UNFPA.
