Job Overview:
The Economic Affairs Individual Contractor will play a crucial role in supporting the Forum of Mayors project, which aims to enhance the capacities of UNECE member states in sustainable urban development, housing, and land management. The contractor will be responsible for delivering specific outputs, including a list of Mayors to invite as speakers, updating the online platform content, and documenting the minutes of relevant meetings. This position requires a proactive approach to liaising with stakeholders, managing communications, and assisting in the logistical organization of events. The contractor will work closely with the Associate Expert in Economic Affairs and contribute to the overall success of the Forum of Mayors 2025.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The individual contractor will undertake a variety of tasks, including: (1) Drafting and sending invitations to Mayors for the Forum of Mayors, compiling a comprehensive list of invitees; (2) Liaising with UN member states and external partners to ensure effective communication and collaboration; (3) Assisting in the rebuilding and maintenance of the Forum of Mayors online platform, ensuring content is current and engaging; (4) Supporting the organization of meetings for the Forum of Mayors Bureau and related events; (5) Contributing to communication efforts by drafting press releases, newsletters, and social media content, as well as creating interactive videos and presentations; (6) Managing logistical arrangements for the Forum of Mayors and its side events, ensuring all aspects run smoothly and efficiently.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree in International Relations, Business Administration, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in Economic Affairs or a related area is required. Additionally, experience in event organization and website management is desirable, indicating a well-rounded skill set suitable for the demands of this role.

Educational Background:
An advanced degree in a relevant field such as International Relations, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline is essential for this position. This educational background provides the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to navigate the complexities of economic affairs and sustainable development.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in Economic Affairs or a related area. This experience should demonstrate a strong understanding of economic principles, event management, and stakeholder engagement, showcasing the candidate's ability to handle the responsibilities outlined in the job description effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is one of the two working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Proficiency in French is also required, as it complements the communication needs within the UN framework and enhances collaboration with French-speaking stakeholders.
