Job Overview: The ICT Senior Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the UNOPS Geneva office and its portfolios, as well as collaborating with other UN agencies to ensure consistent service delivery. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the ICT Senior Analyst and will be responsible for developing and implementing the ICT Plan, managing user accounts, providing technical support, and ensuring the smooth operation of ICT systems. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The ICT Senior Assistant will also assist in training staff on hardware and software applications, monitor and support communication equipment, and maintain an up-to-date inventory of software and hardware. The role is essential for maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of ICT services within the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the ICT Senior Assistant include assisting the ICT Senior Analyst in developing and implementing the ICT Plan, managing user accounts and Active Directory on Windows 2016 Server, administering Google Workspace settings, providing remote troubleshooting guidance for various ICT equipment, monitoring LAN/WAN and communication equipment, and providing first-line technical support via email, telephone, and remote desktop tools. The incumbent will log support requests, assist with workstation installations, monitor hardware and software troubleshooting, and support staff training on ICT systems. Additionally, the ICT Senior Assistant will assist in facilitating local or international travel for IT support, maintain an inventory of software and hardware, escalate IT issues to the supervisor, and prepare reports on hardware conditions and frequent IT issues as requested.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, along with five years of relevant experience in information technology and/or telecommunications and systems. A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in information technology, computer sciences, or engineering may substitute for some of the required years of experience. Experience in managing ICT setups in an office environment is required, and knowledge of Google Workspace applications is considered an asset. Experience in managing ICT setups in an office environment is essential, as is familiarity with Google Workspace applications. Candidates with Google or Microsoft system administration training or certification will have an advantage in the selection process.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UNOPS language is considered an asset, as it may enhance communication and collaboration within the diverse international environment of the United Nations.
