Job Overview:
The CrisisInSight – Project Manager position is designed for a highly organized individual who excels in time management and task prioritization. This role is pivotal in supporting the operational functions of the CrisisInSight Team at ACAPS. The Project Manager will work closely with the CrisisInSight Manager and Senior Analysts to ensure effective project implementation and team collaboration. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment. The Project Manager will be responsible for creating and implementing operational processes, managing team dynamics, and ensuring that the team meets its objectives efficiently. This role is crucial for maintaining the operational integrity of the CrisisInSight Team, which is responsible for providing independent and multisectoral data analysis to inform humanitarian decision-making.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Manager will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
  • Coordination: Creating and implementing operational processes for the CrisisInSight team, supporting day-to-day management, and ensuring effective communication within the team.
  • Grants Management: Overseeing the management of grants, including liaising with donors, coordinating reporting, and drafting donor reports.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Ensuring that monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) processes are established and functioning effectively.
  • Budget Management: Tracking budget expenditures and updating forecasts in collaboration with the Finance Unit.
  • HR Processes: Coordinating HR processes such as performance tracking, recruitment, and onboarding.
  • Capacity Building: Organizing internal capacity-building activities for the team.
  • Partnerships: Assisting in identifying potential partners for collaborative projects.
  • Critical Interfaces: Collaborating closely with all team members and relevant ACAPS units to ensure smooth operations and communication.
  • Flexibility: Adapting to changes in responsibilities as the team evolves and workload shifts.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess excellent planning and time management skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as is the ability to facilitate collaboration among team members. The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in a relevant field, such as humanitarian action, management, social sciences, or international relations, or a Bachelor’s degree with additional relevant experience. A minimum of 5 years of experience in international organizations, including at least 2 years in a management role, is required. Experience in the humanitarian sector is essential, along with demonstrated success in leading international projects and managing multidisciplinary teams in complex environments.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include a Master’s degree in humanitarian action, management, social sciences, international relations, research, or international development. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree combined with an additional 2 years of relevant experience will be accepted. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the analytical skills needed for effective project management.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of experience working in international organizations, with a strong emphasis on management experience. Candidates should have a background in the humanitarian sector, demonstrating their ability to lead projects and manage teams effectively in challenging environments. Experience with project management tools and analytical projects will be considered a strong asset, as will a proven track record of meeting deadlines and delivering results in fast-paced settings.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Strong communication skills are essential, including the ability to adapt communication styles to different team members and stakeholders. While English is the primary language required, proficiency in additional languages may be considered an advantage, particularly in a multicultural work environment.

Additional Notes:
This position is a full-time role with a contract duration of 12 months, subject to funding. The successful candidate must have the right to work in the Netherlands, as no visa sponsorship will be provided. The starting date for this position is set for May 1, 202
