Job Overview: The intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Communications Intern will play a vital role in supporting the Knowledge Project's mission by assisting in the creation of engaging content for social media platforms, including posts, visuals, infographics, and videos. The intern will manage social media accounts and monitor the reporting system of the knowledge4all portal. This position is designed for individuals interested in contributing to knowledge dissemination and enhancing the visibility of the project’s initiatives. The intern will work closely with the Project and Research Associate and the Policy and Data Specialist, gaining valuable experience in communication strategies within an international development context.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's responsibilities will include compiling, cleaning, and tabulating data from international sources to compute the Global Knowledge Index 202
They will provide research, writing, and editing support on topics related to knowledge society, education, RDI, ICT, and economy. The intern will contribute to quality checks on datasets, assist in revising the structure of the Global Knowledge Index, and search for replacement variables for discontinued ones. They will prepare tables, graphs, fact sheets, and reports summarizing data findings, compile material for the knowledge4all portal, and ensure the datasets' recency and accuracy. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate a strong sense of collaborative work, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, keen attention to detail, and a proven interest in the development field. They should possess excellent analytical and research skills, with prior research experience being advantageous. An interest in the Arab States region and familiarity with its context is preferred. The intern should exhibit professionalism, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work under pressure while maintaining a commitment to gender perspectives and youth inclusion.
Educational Background: Applicants must meet one of the following educational requirements: be enrolled in a postgraduate degree program (master’s or higher), be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (bachelor’s or equivalent), have recently graduated with a relevant university degree, or be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program that includes the internship as part of the curriculum.
Experience: Relevant previous experience is considered a plus, particularly in communication or research roles. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools is also advantageous, as it will facilitate the intern's ability to perform tasks effectively.
Languages: Fluency in Arabic and English (both oral and written) is required for this position. Knowledge of French is considered an asset but is not mandatory for the role.
Additional Notes: The internship is unpaid, but a stipend will be provided to cover basic daily expenses if the intern is not financially supported by any institution. The stipend amount will be determined based on the duty station's rates. The internship may be part-time, and arrangements will be prorated accordingly.
