Job Overview:
The GIS / Spatial Developer will play a crucial role in the implementation of the SLDM project by designing, developing, and deploying spatially oriented, enterprise-level web-based software solutions. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including GLSC and FAO team members, to ensure that the developed software solutions are secure, functional, and well-documented. The incumbent will be responsible for enhancing the Commission's spatial data capabilities and geospatial infrastructure, ensuring interoperability with existing data sets, and training end-users on the software solutions. Duties and Responsibilities:
The GIS / Spatial Developer will be tasked with the following duties and responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Software Development, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Sciences, or related fields, along with relevant professional certifications in Software Development. Additionally, candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant work experience in Information Systems and Software Development related to Geographic Information Systems. A working knowledge (level C) of English is also required, and candidates must be nationals of Guyana or residents of the country with a valid work permit.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's degree in Software Development, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Sciences, or related fields. Relevant professional certifications in Software Development are also considered beneficial for candidates applying for this role.
Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in Information Systems and Software Development, particularly in the context of Geographic Information Systems. Experience in implementing Land Administration Systems and project management, especially in developing countries, is highly valued. - Ensure the interoperability of developed solutions and software modules with the Commission's spatial and financial data sets, servers, and wider geospatial data infrastructure and ecosystem.
- Train end-users and relevant ISD staff on proper usage, maintenance, and management of developed software solutions/modules.
- Prepare comprehensive and up-to-date end-user and technical documentation for developed software solutions and modules.
- Undertake other related duties relative to effective and efficient delivery of the objectives of the Development Section and ISD.
