Job Overview:
The Sexual and Reproductive Health in Emergencies (SRHiE) Analyst is tasked with coordinating and monitoring SRH interventions in disaster-affected areas of the Philippines, particularly in Region V (Bicol). This role is crucial in ensuring the continuity of life-saving reproductive health services, including maternal health, family planning, adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH), and HIV/STI services. The Analyst will work closely with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and UN partners, to implement effective SRH programs in response to the humanitarian needs arising from natural disasters. The position requires a proactive approach to emergency preparedness and response, ensuring that SRH services are integrated into broader humanitarian efforts. The Analyst will also contribute to strategic planning and resource mobilization initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of SRH interventions in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The SRHiE Analyst will be responsible for a range of duties, including:
  • Providing programmatic support and quality assurance for ongoing UNFPA humanitarian responses related to SRH.
  • Conducting rapid assessments of SRH needs in affected populations and analyzing data to inform design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design.
  • Representing UNFPA in inter-agency meetings and consultations, providing feedback on SRH issues at local levels.
  • Supporting the functionality of regional and provincial SRH coordination mechanisms.
  • Contributing to strategic planning for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in affected areas.
  • Leading the formulation and implementation of annual work plans for implementing partners.
  • Ensuring adherence to international technical standards in SRH activities.
  • Overseeing the distribution of emergency reproductive health kits and monitoring their utilization.
  • Conducting monitoring visits to ensure that the SRH needs of affected populations are met. 1
  • Preparing and submitting reports to donors and other oversight agencies. 1
  • Documenting lessons learned and challenges in program implementation. 1
  • Building partnerships with local government units, NGOs, and other stakeholders to promote SRH initiatives. 1
  • Identifying resource mobilization opportunities to enhance UNFPA's investments in SRHR.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree in health sciences, public health, or a relevant field. A minimum of two years of working experience in public health is required, with a distinct advantage for those with experience in sexual and reproductive health services. Previous humanitarian work experience is also preferred. Candidates should demonstrate excellent computer literacy and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills are essential, along with a commitment to UNFPA's values and mission.

Educational Background:
An advanced degree in health sciences, public health, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of sexual and reproductive health issues, particularly in emergency contexts. Candidates should have a solid foundation in public health principles and practices, as well as knowledge of the specific challenges faced by vulnerable populations in disaster-affected areas.

Experience:
The position requires at least two years of relevant working experience in public health, with a focus on sexual and reproductive health services. Experience in humanitarian settings is highly desirable, as the role involves responding to urgent health needs in crisis situations. Candidates should have a proven track record of working collaboratively with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations, to implement effective health programs.

Languages:
Proficiency in Filipino and English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of local languages in the Bicol Region is considered an asset, as it can enhance communication and engagement with local communities. Effective communication skills in both written and spoken forms are essential for the Analyst to fulfill their responsibilities effectively.

Additional Notes:
This is a full-time, temporary position with an initial duration of six months, subject to renewal based on the availability of funds. The role is non-rotational, meaning the Analyst will be based in Legazpi, Albay, Philippines.
