Job Overview: The Economic Recovery Assistants will play a crucial role in the implementation of DRC's economic recovery projects on the ground. This position requires experienced individuals who are adept at resilience-building activities and can ensure that all initiatives align with DRC's standards and guidelines. The assistants will be responsible for conducting field visits to communities of displaced persons to assess their needs regarding resilience and livelihoods. They will evaluate beneficiaries for project activities, develop employability and financial education training in collaboration with the livelihoods technical team, and conduct pre-and post-training assessments to measure knowledge and skill improvements. Additionally, they will analyze cases eligible for financial support for livelihood activities or cash-for-work initiatives, implement monitoring and evaluation mechanisms for skills development training, and regularly audit and revise the program based on beneficiary feedback and contextual changes. The role also involves managing and providing technical leadership to community mobilization agents, ensuring adherence to DRC's code of conduct and policies, and participating in planning meetings and collective supervision.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Economic Recovery Assistants will undertake various responsibilities, including: conducting resilience activities in accordance with DRC standards; performing field visits to identify community needs; assessing and enrolling beneficiaries in project activities; co-developing training programs on employability and financial education; conducting evaluations to assess training effectiveness; analyzing cases for financial support; implementing monitoring and evaluation mechanisms; auditing and revising training programs based on feedback; assisting in identifying appropriate referral pathways; managing community mobilization agents; participating in program development; ensuring compliance with DRC policies; and undertaking additional tasks as requested by the team leader.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years of humanitarian field experience, particularly in livelihoods, economic development, infrastructure rehabilitation, permaculture, and income-generating interventions. They should demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality and prioritize the safety and dignity of beneficiaries. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential, along with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity, and flexibility. Candidates should be comfortable working in a multicultural environment and capable of managing pressure effectively. Organizational and management skills are also required, along with the flexibility to work overtime when necessary.
Educational Background: The ideal candidates should hold degrees or certificates in business administration, development studies, sociology, community development, agricultural management, or security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security management. This educational background will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively contribute to the economic recovery initiatives.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant humanitarian experience is required, with a focus on livelihoods and economic recovery. Candidates should have practical experience in implementing programs that support community resilience and economic development, as well as familiarity with the challenges faced by displaced populations.
Languages: Fluency in Kirundi and French is mandatory, while proficiency in English (both oral and written) is considered an advantage. Strong communication skills in these languages will facilitate effective interaction with beneficiaries and stakeholders.
