Job Overview: The Biomedical Engineer will work under the supervision of the Project Manager, providing technical support to establish a medical equipment management system, including inventory and preventive measures. The role involves collaborating with the UNOPS technical team on project execution, conducting hospital space verification visits, ensuring proper delivery and installation of medical equipment, and working closely with the Ministry of Health and hospital staff. The engineer will also develop technical specifications for medical equipment procurement, participate in technical evaluations of offers, and optimize project activities. The position requires a commitment to ensuring project outcomes align with the benefits outlined in project documents and involves contributing to various reports as directed by the supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical support to establish a medical equipment management system, including inventory management and preventive measures.
Collaborate with the UNOPS technical team on project execution.
Conduct verification visits of hospital spaces before receiving equipment and make recommendations.
Monitor deliveries, installation, and marketing of medical equipment/furniture within beneficiary health institutions.
Work closely with the Ministry of Health team and hospital staff.
Develop technical specifications for the procurement of medical equipment.
Participate in the technical evaluation processes of offers received for medical equipment/furniture.
Collaborate with the support team to optimize project activities.
Execute other tasks as instructed by the Project Manager to facilitate project deliverables. 1
Ensure mastery of expected products for each activity involved, adhering to specified tolerances regarding timelines, costs, quality, scope, risks, and benefits. 1
Participate in drafting various reports as defined in the communication plan of the assigned projects.
Required Qualifications:
A minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience with a bachelor's degree (BAC+3) in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial maintenance, industrial engineering, or equivalent.
A minimum of 2 years of experience with a master's degree or engineering degree in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial maintenance, industrial engineering, or equivalent.
Certification in healthcare management is an asset.
Relevant experience in biomedical engineering, with at least one year in a hospital environment is required.
Successful experience working with various health sector stakeholders, particularly governments and development partners, is desirable.
Experience working or interning in a hospital environment is desirable.
Experience working in developing countries is an asset.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial maintenance, industrial engineering, or equivalent is required. A master's degree or engineering degree in the same fields is preferred, with additional years of experience considered an asset.
