Job Overview:
The Logistics Assistant plays a crucial role in the Mission Support Section of MINUSCA, focusing on logistics support and coordination. This position requires the incumbent to identify and manage logistics transportation needs, ensuring the efficient use of resources. The Logistics Assistant will provide operational support related to essential commodities and services, such as fuel and rations, and will engage with various stakeholders to enhance logistics planning and coordination. The role also involves reviewing logistics implementation plans and developing deployment strategies for goods and personnel. The Logistics Assistant will be responsible for creating contingency plans to address potential obstacles in logistics operations, ensuring that the mission's logistical needs are met effectively and efficiently.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Assistant will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
  • Identifying routine logistics transportation requirements and implementing methods to meet these needs.
  • Providing logistical support to mission clients regarding essential commodities and services.
  • Participating in logistics planning and coordination with mission stakeholders.
  • Reviewing and developing logistics implementation plans for effective deployment of goods and personnel.
  • Coordinating ad-hoc transportation requirements, including staff movements and troop deployments.
  • Managing vehicle and equipment assignments with UN agencies.
  • Analyzing operational usage trends and supporting staff training development.
  • Preparing documentation for asset management and conducting periodic inventory checks.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations during asset disposal, including hazardous waste. 1
  • Completing reports on logistics support provision and ensuring timely delivery of materials to mission clients.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and the ability to operate a manual-transmission light vehicle in 4x4 conditions. A technical or vocational certificate in logistics, transportation, or asset management is desirable. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with a strong emphasis on logistics and operational support experience.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates with additional qualifications, such as a technical or vocational certificate in logistics, transportation, or asset management, will be viewed favorably. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of logistics operations and management.

Experience:
The Logistics Assistant must have a minimum of eight years of progressively responsible experience in remote logistics operations, supply chain management, or large-scale fleet management.
