The role is crucial in enhancing disaster preparedness and resilience among vulnerable populations. The contractor will be expected to engage with local communities, assess their needs, and develop tailored strategies to improve their readiness for potential volcanic events. • Facilitate workshops and community meetings to raise awareness about volcanic risks and preparedness strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the training programs and disaster preparedness initiatives, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Prepare detailed reports on the progress of the project, including challenges faced and recommendations for future actions.
  • Ensure that all activities are aligned with UNDP’s policies and guidelines, maintaining high standards of accountability and transparency.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and challenges.

Educational Background:
A bachelor’s degree in disaster management, environmental science, social sciences, or a related field is required. A master’s degree in a relevant discipline would be an advantage. Additional certifications in disaster risk management or community development are also desirable.

Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in disaster risk reduction, community development, or related areas is required. Experience working with rural communities in Ecuador or similar contexts is highly preferred. Previous involvement in UNDP projects or similar international organizations will be considered a strong asset.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the position requires direct communication with local communities. Proficiency in English is desirable but not mandatory. Knowledge of indigenous languages spoken in the Cotopaxi province would be an additional advantage.
