The FAO-Saudi Technical Cooperation Programme, which runs from 2019 to 2025, aims to provide technical and advisory services to the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MoEWA) to support the implementation of sustainable agricultural practices in Saudi Arabia.

Job Overview:
The National Communication Expert will play a crucial role in the FAO-Saudi Technical Cooperation Programme, specifically focusing on enhancing the capacity of the MoEWA in sustainable management of natural resources. This position involves developing comprehensive communication and outreach strategies aimed at promoting sustainable land management practices and raising public awareness about environmental conservation in Saudi Arabia. The expert will work closely with various stakeholders, including governmental institutions, local communities, and media outlets, to ensure effective dissemination of information and knowledge. The role requires a proactive approach to identify communication needs and create targeted materials that resonate with diverse audiences, ensuring that the messaging is consistent and culturally relevant. The expert will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of communication efforts, adapting strategies as necessary to meet the evolving needs of the project and its stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The National Communication Expert will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including: collaborating with the FAO-NRM team and other stakeholders to identify communication needs; developing and implementing a comprehensive communication and outreach plan; crafting clear and action-oriented key messages; collaborating with graphic designers and content creators to produce engaging materials; identifying target audiences and establishing networks for collaboration; creating and disseminating content through various channels; coordinating with the National Centre for Vegetation Cover and Combating Desertification (NCVC); planning and organizing outreach activities; adapting materials to local languages and cultural contexts; monitoring and evaluating communication efforts; overseeing awareness initiatives and campaigns; and coordinating activities related to international or UN days focusing on natural resources and the environment. The expert will also be expected to stay informed about emerging trends in communication technologies and adapt strategies accordingly.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Communication, Journalism, or a related field. They should have at least five years of relevant experience in corporate communications, public information, journalism, or international relations. Experience in the security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security sector is considered an asset. Additionally, candidates must be nationals of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and have a working knowledge of Arabic (level C) and limited knowledge of English (level B).

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in Communication, Journalism, or a related field. Candidates must have obtained their qualifications from institutions accredited or recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED).

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in fields such as corporate communications, public information, journalism, or international relations. Experience working within the food security sector is advantageous, as it aligns with the FAO's mission and the specific goals of the project.

Languages:
The mandatory language requirement for this position is a working knowledge of Arabic (level C). Additionally, candidates should have a limited knowledge of English (level B).
