Job Overview:
The Gender Support position is located in FAO Pakistan, specifically in Multan, and is part of a project funded by the Green Climate Fund aimed at transforming the Indus Basin through climate-resilient agriculture and water management. This role is crucial for supporting the implementation of cross-cutting activities related to gender, inclusion, and nutrition-sensitive agriculture. The successful candidate will work closely with the project team to ensure the timely delivery of activities related to gender equality, food security, and livelihoods. The position requires a proactive approach to integrating gender considerations into agricultural practices and enhancing the capacity of women and youth in the agricultural sector. The Gender Support will also coordinate training programs and facilitate stakeholder engagement to promote gender equality and women's empowerment in agriculture.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Gender Support include supporting the integration of gender equality in climate-resilient agriculture and water management practices, enhancing project initiatives focused on women and youth empowerment, assisting with gender-responsive training programs for farmers, coordinating the GCF Gender and Social Inclusion Focal Points network, reviewing and updating the Gender Action Plan, facilitating training and capacity-building initiatives, organizing stakeholder meetings and workshops, documenting success stories, maintaining accurate documentation of gender-related project activities, ensuring timely submission of progress reports, and performing other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Gender and Development studies, Gender and Women Studies, Agriculture Science and Gender. Additionally, a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in gender, food security, nutrition, capacity strengthening, and agriculture is required. A working knowledge of English and being a national of Pakistan are also mandatory qualifications.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in fields related to social sciences, gender studies, or agriculture with a focus on gender. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of gender issues in agriculture and food security.
Experience:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in areas such as gender, food security, nutrition, and agricultural development. This experience should include working on projects that promote food security and rural livelihoods with a gender focus, as well as conducting training sessions on gender-sensitive agriculture and rural development.
Languages:
A working knowledge of English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, understanding local languages of Punjab and Sindh could be considered an asset, enhancing communication and engagement with local communities.
