Job Overview:
The Public Information Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the UN Pavilion at the World Exposition 2025 in Osaka, Japan. This temporary position will be active from mid-March 2025 to mid-October 2025, coinciding with the duration of the Expo. The assistant will be responsible for producing and delivering training for Pavilion attendants, ensuring they are well-informed about UN communications products and services. The role involves extensive research and compilation of information from various sources to prepare communication materials for both internal and external audiences. The assistant will also serve as a liaison for accreditation, coordinating access for staff, participants, and media to events, and managing logistics for special events. Additionally, the assistant will assist in the production of multimedia projects and maintain the UN Pavilion's web presence, ensuring that information is up-to-date and accessible.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Public Information Assistant will have a wide range of responsibilities, including:
- Providing specialized assistance in training for UN Pavilion attendants.
- Researching and compiling information from various sources for communication products.
- Acting as an information focal point for accreditation and coordinating access for staff and media.
- Organizing and executing special events to publicize key activities.
- Handling administrative coordination for training and programs.
- Performing junior photo-librarian functions, including cataloguing photographs.
- Overseeing the distribution of passes and managing protocols.
- Developing data collection mechanisms to gather audience data.
- Assisting in the production and editing of multimedia projects. 1
- Participating in planning and executing live broadcasts. 1
- Maintaining and updating the Pavilion's web page. 1
- Managing internal databases related to visitor trends and feedback. 1
- Providing guidance and training to staff in English and Japanese. 1
- Assisting with administrative, logistical, financial, HR, and travel-related matters. 1
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least 5 years of experience in public communication, media, or a related area, with a recognized first-level education degree, or 7 years of experience with a high school diploma. Experience with the United Nations or similar international organizations is desirable, as is experience working with Japanese businesses or organizations. Familiarity with guided tours and training staff is also beneficial. Candidates should demonstrate professionalism, effective communication skills, and strong planning and organizational abilities.
Educational Background:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. There are no specific job-related qualifications listed beyond the educational requirement, but relevant experience in public communication or media is essential.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with a recognized first-level education degree, or 7 years of experience in public communication, media, or a related area with a high school diploma. Languages:
