Job Overview:
The Radiologic Technologist will work under the direct supervision of the Head of Clinic and will receive technical guidance from the IOM Teleradiology Center. The primary responsibility of this position is to process screening X-rays for refugees and immigrants participating in the IOM Health Assessment Programme. The successful candidate will be expected to take high-quality chest X-ray images, explain procedures to applicants, and ensure compliance with international radiographic standards. This role also involves maintaining equipment, ensuring radiation safety, and contributing to quality assurance in the Radiology Unit. The Radiologic Technologist will play a crucial role in optimizing workflow and ensuring timely delivery of X-ray images and reports, while also participating in infection control measures and maintaining a clean work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Take high-quality chest X-ray images as requested by Physicians or Radiologists, adhering to IOM and international standards.
  • Explain X-ray procedures to applicants and address any questions they may have.
  • Prepare examination rooms and equipment, ensuring proper ID checks and data entry.
  • Apply appropriate radiographic techniques and radiation protection measures during examinations.
  • Process digital images and ensure quality control, repeating images as necessary.
  • Report urgent information to Radiologists or Physicians.
  • Maintain high-quality standards in the Radiology Unit through proper technique and staff training.
  • Act as the quality assurance focal person for the X-ray Unit.
  • Ensure radiation safety for applicants and staff by following established protocols. 1
  • Conduct regular quality assurance checks on X-ray machines and report any issues. 1
  • Optimize workflow in the Radiology Unit by improving standard operating procedures. 1
  • Prepare daily worklists, check applicant identities, and upload images to the e-Medical website. 1
  • Document operational activities and prepare statistical reports. 1
  • Coordinate with Radiologists and Teleradiology Centers for image readings. 1
  • Implement infection control measures and maintain a tidy work environment. 1
  • Suggest improvements for quality, speed, or safety of procedures. 1
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Radiologic Technology from an accredited institution.
  • Valid license to practice Radiography, if applicable.
  • Knowledge of radiographic techniques, procedures, safety, and quality management.
  • Familiarity with digital radiography and radiology information systems.
  • Experience in screening chest X-rays and health assessment programs.
  • Specialized training certificates in thoracic radiology, cardiothoracic imaging, teleradiology, artificial intelligence in medical imaging, quality assurance, and PACS are advantageous.
  • Proven experience in screening chest X-ray reading is a plus.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Radiologic Technology from an accredited academic institution. Accredited institutions are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. A valid license to practice Radiography is required where applicable, ensuring that the candidate meets national regulations for the scope of responsibilities.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of working experience in radiography for Bachelor degree holders, and five years for diploma holders. Candidates should have substantial experience in chest X-ray procedures, knowledge of radiographic safety, and familiarity with quality management processes. Experience with digital radiography systems and health assessment programs is essential. Additional certifications in specialized training areas will be considered an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in English and the local language is mandatory, both oral and written. IOM's official languages include English, French, and Spanish, and proficiency in these languages may be evaluated during the selection process through written and/or oral assessments.
