Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer will play a vital role in supporting the WFP Uganda Country Office in monitoring the implementation of food assistance programs, particularly in response to health emergencies such as the Mpox and Ebola outbreaks. The position involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health and Uganda Red Cross Society, to ensure effective delivery of food and logistics assistance. Duties and Responsibilities:
The UN Volunteer will be responsible for a range of tasks including: coordinating and liaising with WFP’s response partners to facilitate food and logistics assistance; monitoring partner performance in accordance with agreements and Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs); conducting site visits to assess the implementation of food assistance programs; providing regular updates on food distribution and logistical support; assisting in the setup and execution of cash-based transfers to households affected by Mpox; organizing and managing coordination meetings with key stakeholders; monitoring the use of available grants and funds, reporting on expenditures, and flagging any issues related to over or underspending; compiling weekly and monthly situational update reports for management and donors; and undertaking any additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong analytical and reporting skills, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Proficiency in data management and familiarity with cash-based transfer systems are essential. The ideal candidate should also exhibit excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be capable of engaging effectively with diverse stakeholders. A proactive attitude towards problem-solving and adaptability to changing situations are highly valued in this role.

Educational Background:
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as international relations, public health, social sciences, or a related discipline is required. Additional training or certifications in project management, humanitarian assistance, or food security would be advantageous.

Experience:
The position requires prior experience in humanitarian assistance, food security programs, or public health initiatives. Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or government agencies in a similar context is preferred. Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation processes, as well as experience in data analysis and reporting, will be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of WFP. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Uganda would be considered an asset, enhancing communication with local stakeholders and communities.
