Job Overview: The Consultant position is pivotal in providing leadership, technical, and operational expertise in the effective implementation of the Country Programming Framework (CPF) in Chile. The role requires the Consultant to align the CPF with the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) and FAO's policies and programs. The Consultant will be responsible for resource mobilization, ensuring the timely delivery of the Country Programme and its project portfolio, and providing technical oversight for the implementation of various projects. This position demands a proactive approach to liaising with national counterparts and stakeholders, ensuring that all operational activities are executed in accordance with established work plans and project documents. The Consultant will also play a key role in promoting FAO's image and advocating for its mandate and programs within the country.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Consultant will undertake a variety of tasks including developing strategies for resource mobilization, supporting the FAO Representative in project implementation, providing technical oversight, monitoring project progress, liaising with government authorities and institutions, promoting FAO's image, coordinating data collection on food and agriculture, producing technical studies, preparing reports, and ensuring gender equality and inclusion in all projects. The Consultant will also be responsible for training and supervising technical teams and ensuring adherence to procedures and work requirements. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the agricultural sector and the ability to navigate complex operational environments effectively.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in agriculture, agricultural economics, forestry, fisheries, natural resources, rural development, social sciences, international relations, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in public or private sectors related to policy analysis, programming, planning, and technical cooperation in food and agriculture, with a minimum of 2 years in resource mobilization. An advanced degree (MA) in the aforementioned areas is preferred. Candidates should also demonstrate a strong understanding of the technical program and operational guidelines relevant to FAO's work.
Educational Background: A university degree in a relevant field such as agriculture, agricultural economics, forestry, fisheries, natural resources, rural development, social sciences, or international relations is required. An advanced degree (MA) in these areas is highly desirable and will be considered an asset in the selection process.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in areas related to policy analysis, programming, planning, and technical cooperation in food and agriculture.
