Job Overview: The Associate – Budget Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting WRI India's operational and administrative activities. This position requires a motivated, detail-oriented, and organized individual who will be responsible for maintaining budgets for complex grants, tracking expenditures, monitoring contracts, and managing various administrative tasks. The role involves working closely with the Operations Manager and other teams to ensure accurate budget forecasting and compliance with grant and contract agreements. The successful candidate will also coordinate event logistics and provide travel support, contributing to the overall efficiency of the organization’s operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Management (30%): Update and maintain project budgets using WRI’s budgeting and forecasting software (TM1). Collaborate with the Operations Manager to ensure budget accuracy and minimize variance from planned targets. Coordinate with accounting, payments, HR, and program teams for timesheets and expense reporting. Support project teams with financial expenditures for outreach and communication efforts, ensuring compliance with grant and contract terms.
Contracts Management (30%): Process documentation for agreements, contracts, sub-grants, work authorizations, and purchase orders. Monitor performance against contract requirements and assist partners in understanding and meeting these requirements. Maintain supporting reports throughout the duration of contracts and process invoices and payments in compliance with WRI’s policies.
Conference, Event & Travel Support (20%): Coordinate logistics for domestic and international workshops, including venue arrangements and catering. Provide travel and visa support to team members and assist with financial management for conference logistics.
Administration (20%): Schedule team meetings and assist in annual planning processes. Update and maintain staffing information and manage recruitment and onboarding of new staff and interns. Maintain various program and organizational trackers, and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Business, Finance, Economics, or Accounting.
A minimum of two years of relevant, full-time work experience, preferably in financial management, budgeting, administration, or nonprofit operations.
Ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and manage multiple projects with varying deadlines.
Strong attention to deadlines, particularly regarding grant compliance and monitoring sub-grant and contract relationships.
Excellent process orientation with a focus on quality, timelines, and organizational systems.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), web-based communications (Skype, Zoom), and CRM databases (Salesforce). Budgeting experience with Excel or other budgeting software is highly desirable.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business, Finance, Economics, or Accounting is required for this position.
