Job Overview:
The Intern, Public Information position is designed for students or recent graduates who are eager to gain practical experience in public information and communications within the United Nations framework. The intern will assist in various public information projects, contributing to the visibility and outreach of UN initiatives. This role involves engaging with social media, organizing events, and creating informational materials, thereby providing a comprehensive introduction to the workings of UN communications. The intern will be expected to work full-time for a duration of 3 to 6 months, gaining valuable insights into the UN's operations and enhancing their professional skills in a dynamic environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's duties will include assisting in public information projects for the UN Information Centre (UNIC), UN Communication Group, and the UN Country Team. Responsibilities will encompass producing social media plans and campaigns, maintaining UNIC's social media channels, and organizing events for UN observances and press conferences. The intern will help design various informational materials, such as publication covers and infographics, and may be required to take photos and manage a photo library. Additionally, the intern will assist in video production, including editing and subtitling news videos for UN Namibia's social media. General office support tasks will also be part of the role, including processing correspondence and maintaining records. The intern will monitor sources for new content, attend events to gather quotes and media, draft social media posts, and undertake statistical reporting on social media performance. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must be students in their final year of a bachelor's degree, master's, or Ph.D. program, or have completed such programs. No prior work experience is required, but candidates should demonstrate how their education or skills can benefit the UN during the internship. Proof of enrollment or completion of the relevant degree must be provided with the application.

Educational Background:
Candidates should be pursuing or have completed a degree in communications, public relations, international relations, or a related field. The internship is open to those in their final year of undergraduate studies or those who have completed their degrees, including master's and doctoral programs.

Experience:
No prior work experience is necessary for this internship position. However, candidates should possess relevant training, coursework, or skills that would contribute to the UN's objectives during their internship. Languages:
