Job Overview:
The Consultancy Programme Management Analyst position is designed to provide continuous support to program and project development within the United Nations framework. The role involves conducting ongoing research, data collection, and analysis to support both ongoing and new initiatives. The consultant will be responsible for preparing proposals, budgets, and reports, ensuring that all activities align with the organizational goals of the UN. The position requires effective coordination and administrative management of program activities to facilitate smooth implementation and informed decision-making. The expected duration of this consultancy is six months, during which the incumbent will work closely with the Economic Affairs Officer and the Managing Director to ensure the successful execution of various projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will perform a variety of functions under the direct supervision of the Economic Affairs Officer, including but not limited to: assisting in the coordination of program/project planning and preparation; monitoring the status of program/project proposals; taking necessary actions to ensure project documents are completed and submitted for approval; preparing and analyzing program/project proposals; interpreting budget guidelines; reviewing and coordinating submissions of program proposals and budget estimates; conducting research and collecting information on science, technology, and innovation; compiling, analyzing, and summarizing data on economic, social, and environmental issues; assisting with reporting requirements and ensuring data accuracy; serving as a focal point for coordination and monitoring of program/project implementation activities; maintaining and updating files and databases; drafting correspondence related to program/project administration; assisting in the development of annual work plans and communication activities; and performing other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in business or public administration, international development, social sciences, political sciences, engineering, or related fields. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in program and/or project operations and administration, technical cooperation, or a related area is required, preferably within the international development sector or with international organizations. Experience with administrative policies and procedures in international organizations is desirable, as is familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as Umoja/SAP. Additionally, experience in the United Nations Common System or similar international organizations is preferred, along with at least one year of experience in data analytics or a related area.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as business or public administration, international development, social sciences, political sciences, engineering, or other related areas. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of program and project management within the context of international organizations.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in program and/or project operations and administration, technical cooperation, or related areas. Candidates with experience in the international development sector or with international organizations will be given preference. Additionally, experience with administrative policies and procedures in international organizations is desirable, as well as familiarity with ERP systems like Umoja/SAP. Candidates should also have at least one year of experience in data analytics or a related field.
Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French is considered desirable, as it is also a working language of the UN. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication and collaboration within the organization.
