Job Overview:
The Logistics and Supply Coordinator will play a crucial role in managing the logistics and supply chain operations for the organization in Port Sudan. This position involves overseeing the procurement, transportation, and distribution of supplies and materials necessary for various projects and programs. The coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that all logistics activities are conducted efficiently and in compliance with organizational policies and procedures. The role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to delivering high-quality support to field operations. The coordinator will also collaborate with other departments to ensure that logistics needs are met in a timely manner, contributing to the overall success of the organization's mission in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee all logistics operations, including procurement, transportation, and warehousing of supplies.
  • Develop and implement logistics plans and strategies to ensure timely delivery of materials to project sites.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to negotiate contracts and ensure the best pricing and quality of goods.
  • Monitor inventory levels and manage stock to prevent shortages or excess supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and organizational policies regarding logistics and supply chain management.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of logistics activities, including procurement documents, shipping manifests, and inventory reports.
  • Provide training and support to staff on logistics procedures and best practices.
  • Collaborate with program teams to assess logistics needs and provide solutions to challenges faced in the field.
  • Conduct regular assessments of logistics operations to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes. 1
  • Participate in emergency response efforts as needed, providing logistics support to ensure rapid and effective delivery of aid.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in logistics and supply chain management, preferably in a humanitarian or development context.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes and inventory management.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using logistics management software and tools.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is required. A master's degree or relevant professional certification in logistics or supply chain management is preferred.

Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in logistics and supply chain management is required, with a focus on humanitarian or development projects. Experience working in challenging environments and with diverse teams is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage and will be considered a plus for this position.

This position is full-time and based in Port Sudan. The organization is open to recruiting nationally and internationally. The contract duration is subject to funding and project needs, with opportunities for extension based on performance.
