Job Overview:
The Program Lead for the Latin American Clean Energy Coalition (LACEC) will report to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Deputy Director of WRI’s Global Energy Program. This hybrid position requires the candidate to work in the office for 8 days a month and can be based in either Brazil or Colombia. The role involves leading stakeholder engagement, research, and program implementation across Latin America, focusing on building a coalition of influential renewable energy buyers. The candidate will be responsible for program development and management, strategic partnership engagement, and marketing/media outreach. The position offers an opportunity to create a transformational corporate engagement platform in Latin America, with a focus on recruiting companies to join the Coalition and improving policy frameworks for renewable energy procurement in Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia. The role also includes identifying additional priority markets for future program expansion.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Engagement (40%): Identify key decision-makers, thought leaders, and influencers to cultivate relationships that support policy engagement activities. Ensure LACEC gains traction across partner countries and the region. Build strong relationships with policymakers and partners, represent LACEC and WRI at meetings, advocate for project value, and communicate strategic approaches. Create and lead a media/press strategy and plan of action in the region.
  • Program Leadership & Management (30%): Deliver program activities, provide routine updates to the steering group, and inform them of any risks associated with program activities. Develop a strategic, sustainable plan for LACEC growth and program implementation in the region. Build and manage budgeting for all LACEC activities.
  • Research & Knowledge (20%): Monitor relevant national and regional policy issues to ensure LACEC partners are appropriately briefed. Identify policy influence targets and facilitate strategic stakeholder dialogues, workshops, and webinars to implement influencing strategies. Collaborate with WRI’s Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) colleagues to ensure research aligns with institutional goals and program outcomes are monitored.

Required Qualifications:
  • Education: A master’s degree in a related field or sufficient work experience in clean energy, energy efficiency, low-carbon solutions, etc.
  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience, including at least 3 years in program leadership in a similar role. A strong commitment to WRI’s mission and values, with a demonstrated passion for addressing energy issues at international, national, and private-sector levels. Recognition as a leader in the field with an in-depth understanding of clean energy policy. Experience collaborating with governments, public and private institutions, and navigating international geopolitics and negotiations. Demonstrated ability to build strategic alignment across an international organization and enhance impact through collaboration with international and country-based teams. Experience with research-based policy recommendations and a record of contributing to high-quality publications. Strong networks in the renewable energy sector in Latin America are preferred. Possession of local working rights for the country of application is required, as WRI cannot sponsor employment visas.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed a master’s degree in a relevant field or possess sufficient work experience in areas related to clean energy, energy efficiency, or low-carbon solutions. This educational background is essential to ensure the candidate has the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively lead the program and engage with stakeholders in the renewable energy sector.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience, with at least 3 years in a program leadership role. Languages:
Proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is mandatory, along with the ability to communicate clearly in English. Additional Notes:
This is a hybrid position requiring 8 days per month in the office, with the option to be based in Brazil or Colombia.
