The consultant will be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of two main products: proposals for productive development policies to enhance national export capacities and strategies to strengthen two agro-industrial value chains. This role requires a strong focus on local coordination to ensure that the project meets its objectives and contributes to improving export capabilities in Cuba, while also addressing gender dimensions in the development process.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will undertake a variety of tasks including coordinating the organization and execution of project activities in Cuba, monitoring local consultants' activities, and providing follow-up on local actions. They will prepare diagnostic documents on policies to develop a comprehensive export promotion strategy, analyze critical nodes and barriers to export, and organize events such as forums and workshops. The consultant will also participate in technical meetings, establish institutional relationships with national counterparts, and ensure gender perspectives are integrated into all activities. Additionally, they will be responsible for preparing monthly technical reports and ensuring compliance with project objectives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor's degree in economics or related fields, with a Master's degree in economics or similar areas being desirable. A minimum of 7 years of experience in economic development research in Cuba is required, with experience in macroeconomic topics being a plus. Familiarity with international organizations is also preferred, indicating a need for candidates who can navigate complex institutional environments.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's degree in economics or a related field. A Master's degree in economics or a similar discipline is highly desirable, as it indicates a higher level of expertise and understanding of economic theories and practices relevant to the role.
Experience: The position requires at least 7 years of relevant experience in economic development research, particularly focused on Cuba.
