Job Overview: The Transport Officer position is situated within the Transport Unit of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH). The role involves reporting to the Chief Transport Unit and is crucial for the development and implementation of various transport-related programs. The Transport Officer will participate in the Vehicle Establishment Program, ensuring that the mission's vehicle fleet is optimized for operational requirements. This includes the development of vehicle acquisition, maintenance, and recovery plans, as well as road safety programs. The officer will also assist in implementing driving tests, managing vehicle inventory, drafting standard operating procedures, and preparing performance reports. The position requires a proactive approach to ensure compliance with UN regulations and effective management of transport assets.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Transport Officer will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
Participating in the development and implementation of the Vehicle Establishment Program and related plans.
Assisting in the implementation of road safety programs and driving tests.
Ensuring inventory control and conducting annual checks of vehicles and equipment.
Drafting standard operating procedures for transport operations.
Preparing performance reports and responding to audit observations.
Drafting technical specifications for goods and services and evaluating vendor proposals.
Overseeing contracts for goods and services and evaluating vendor performance.
Monitoring vehicle usage in accordance with UN regulations.
Participating in budget proposals and training plan development for the Transport Unit.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in transport management, logistics, or a related field. They should demonstrate professional competence and mastery of subject matter, with a focus on efficiency and commitment to achieving results. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing transport operations, including vehicle maintenance and safety programs. They should also possess strong analytical skills and the ability to draft technical documents and reports.
