Job Overview: The internship is located in the Population Unit of the Statistical Division at UNECE. The intern will report to the Chief of the Population Unit and will be involved in promoting policy dialogue among UNECE member states regarding demographic changes. The Population Unit serves as the Secretariat to the UNECE Standing Working Group on Ageing, contributing to informed policymaking. The intern is expected to assist in various activities related to the implementation and monitoring of international plans on ageing, contribute to task forces, develop content for databases, organize intergovernmental meetings, and participate in research and communication activities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will have a range of responsibilities, including: assisting in the implementation and monitoring of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing and its Regional Implementation Strategy; contributing to the activities of task forces under the Standing Working Group on Ageing; developing content for the UNECE Ageing Policies Database; organizing intergovernmental meetings and events; participating in the Programme of Work of the UNECE SWGA, including research and analytical tasks; and contributing to communication activities such as writing press articles, creating website content, and managing social media related to the Unit's work.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Studies in demography, statistics, economics, social and political sciences, international relations, or related fields are desirable. While professional work experience is not required, a relevant field of study is essential. Applicants must also be students in their final year of a bachelor's, master's, or PhD program or have completed such a program.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes being enrolled in or having completed a graduate program or being in the final year of a bachelor's degree program. Relevant fields of study include demography, statistics, economics, social and political sciences, and international relations. Proof of enrollment or completion of the required educational qualifications must be provided with the application.
