Job Overview: The position of Praktikant*in in the Regionalvorhaben WIDU.africa focuses on supporting the digital transformation initiatives in Africa, particularly through the WIDU platform, which aims to enhance the employment and income situation of entrepreneurs in Africa. The intern will be involved in the implementation of the WIDU project in existing partner countries and assist in the rollout of the project in new countries. This role requires a proactive approach to planning and executing workshops and events with various external partners, as well as monitoring project applications from participating African small businesses. The intern will also contribute to the development of new thematic calls on the WIDU platform and support public relations efforts, project monitoring, and reporting to stakeholders. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with digital innovations and contribute to sustainable economic development in Africa.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the WIDU project in partner countries and assisting in the expansion of the project into new regions. Key responsibilities include:
Assisting in the conceptual, content-related, and organizational planning and execution of workshops and events with various external partners.
Reviewing project applications from participating African small businesses and monitoring the WIDU platform's performance.
Supporting the development of new thematic calls on the WIDU platform, such as Green Business Call, Women Business Call, and Digital Call.
Engaging in public relations activities and addressing inquiries related to the project.
Continuously evaluating platform functionalities and contributing to the further development of the online platform.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a completed Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Political Science, Social Sciences, Regional Studies, or IT Management/Computer Science. Additionally, candidates should have gained initial experience abroad, ideally in Africa, through internships or study stays, and have a foundational understanding of development cooperation. A high level of IT affinity and proficiency in common office programs such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is essential. Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and German are required, along with the ability to quickly and comprehensively familiarize oneself with new topics. The ideal candidate should be a team player who works efficiently, meticulously, and in an organized manner.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in relevant fields such as Business Administration, Economics, Political Science, Social Sciences, Regional Studies, or IT Management/Computer Science. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of the projects and the digital transformation initiatives in Africa.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have some level of experience, which can be gained through internships or study abroad programs. Experience in international settings, particularly in Africa, is highly desirable as it provides context for the work involved in the WIDU project and its objectives.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with negotiation-level proficiency required for effective communication. Knowledge of French is considered a significant advantage, as it may facilitate interactions with partners and stakeholders in Francophone regions of Africa. Proficiency in German is also necessary for internal communication and documentation.
Additional Notes: The internship is full-time and is only available to candidates who are currently enrolled in a study program that requires an internship or who have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship. The monthly compensation for interns is €2,205.04 (gross).
