Job Overview:
The position involves co-designing sustainability models for energy communities in La Guajira, Colombia. This role is crucial in developing frameworks that ensure the long-term viability and sustainability of energy initiatives in the region. The contractor will work closely with local communities, stakeholders, and UNDP representatives to create tailored solutions that address the unique challenges faced by these communities. The work will require a deep understanding of local contexts, energy needs, and sustainable practices. The contractor is expected to engage in collaborative processes, facilitating workshops and discussions to gather insights and feedback from community members. The ultimate goal is to produce actionable sustainability models that can be implemented effectively in La Guajira.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough assessments of the current energy landscape in La Guajira, identifying key challenges and opportunities for sustainability.
  • Facilitate workshops and meetings with community members and stakeholders to gather input and foster collaboration.
  • Develop co-designed sustainability models that reflect the needs and aspirations of the local communities.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations outlining the proposed models and their potential impact.
  • Collaborate with UNDP and other partners to ensure alignment with broader development goals and strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the sustainability models, providing recommendations for adjustments as necessary.
  • Engage in continuous communication with stakeholders to keep them informed of progress and gather ongoing feedback.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in community engagement and participatory design processes.
  • Strong background in sustainable development, particularly in energy sectors.
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Knowledge of the socio-economic and cultural context of La Guajira is highly desirable.
  • Ability to analyze complex information and present it in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proficiency in project management and the ability to meet deadlines.

Educational Background:
A degree in environmental science, sustainable development, social sciences, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in energy systems or community development will be considered an asset.

Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in community development, sustainability projects, or energy systems is required. Experience working in Colombia or similar contexts will be highly advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the role requires direct communication with local communities. Proficiency in English is also desirable, particularly for reporting and collaboration with international stakeholders.

The contract duration is for three (3) months. This position is classified as an individual contractor role, which may involve flexible working hours. The contractor will be expected to work both independently and collaboratively with UNDP and local partners.
