Job Overview: The National Consultant for the assessment of the HIV Self-Testing Initiative will be responsible for evaluating the implementation and effectiveness of HIV self-testing among men who have sex with men (MSM) in the Cairo and Alexandria governorates. This role involves conducting a thorough assessment to understand the impact of the initiative, identifying challenges, and providing recommendations for improvement. The consultant will work closely with local stakeholders, health authorities, and community organizations to gather data and insights. The position requires a deep understanding of HIV prevention strategies, particularly in the context of self-testing, and the ability to analyze and interpret data to inform policy and programmatic decisions. The consultant will also be expected to prepare a comprehensive report detailing the findings of the assessment and suggesting actionable steps for enhancing the initiative's effectiveness.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the HIV Self-Testing Initiative among MSM in Cairo and Alexandria.
Engage with local stakeholders, including health service providers, community organizations, and MSM populations, to gather qualitative and quantitative data.
Analyze data collected from various sources to evaluate the effectiveness of the initiative.
Identify barriers to access and utilization of HIV self-testing services among MSM.
Prepare a detailed report summarizing the findings of the assessment, including recommendations for improving the initiative.
Present findings to UNDP and relevant stakeholders, facilitating discussions on potential improvements and next steps.
Ensure that all activities are conducted in compliance with ethical standards and respect for confidentiality.
Collaborate with UNDP and other partners to disseminate findings and promote best practices in HIV self-testing.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in public health, particularly in HIV prevention and testing initiatives.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working with diverse populations.
Familiarity with the local context and health systems in Egypt, particularly regarding HIV and MSM issues.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
Proficiency in using statistical software for data analysis is an advantage.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in HIV prevention and testing strategies will be considered an asset.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in public health, with a focus on HIV/AIDS programs or similar health initiatives. Experience working with MSM populations and understanding their specific health needs is essential. Previous experience in conducting assessments or evaluations in health programs is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in Arabic and English is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages spoken by MSM populations in Egypt would be considered an advantage.
Additional Notes: The assignment is expected to last for 15 working days. This position is part-time and will require the consultant to be available for meetings and data collection during this period. The consultant will be compensated according to UNDP's individual contractor rates, and all expenses related to the assignment will be covered as per UNDP policies.
