The position of TECNICO 2 IMPLEMENTACION SISTEMA AGROFORESTAL involves providing technical support for the implementation of agroforestry systems as part of a project aimed at strengthening climate resilience in rural communities and ecosystems in Ahuachapan, El Salvador. The role is crucial in ensuring that the agroforestry systems are effectively integrated into the local agricultural practices, contributing to sustainable land management and enhancing the livelihoods of the communities involved. The technician will work closely with local stakeholders, including farmers and community organizations, to promote best practices in agroforestry and ensure the successful execution of project activities. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt to the dynamic needs of the project and the communities served.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the TECNICO 2 include but are not limited to:
- Assisting in the design and implementation of agroforestry systems tailored to the specific needs of the communities in Ahuachapan.
- Conducting training sessions and workshops for local farmers on agroforestry practices and sustainable land management techniques.
- Collaborating with local authorities and organizations to facilitate the integration of agroforestry into existing agricultural policies and programs.
- Monitoring and evaluating the progress of agroforestry implementation, collecting data, and reporting on outcomes.
- Providing ongoing technical support and guidance to farmers and community groups involved in the project.
- Identifying challenges and proposing solutions to enhance the effectiveness of agroforestry systems.
- Ensuring compliance with project guidelines and UNDP standards throughout the implementation process.
- Engaging in community outreach to raise awareness about the benefits of agroforestry and climate resilience.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in agricultural sciences, environmental management, or a related field. They should have demonstrated experience in agroforestry or sustainable agriculture practices. Additionally, candidates should have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups. Proficiency in project management and familiarity with monitoring and evaluation frameworks will be advantageous. Candidates should also exhibit a strong commitment to community engagement and capacity building.
Educational Background:
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in agricultural sciences, environmental science, forestry, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in agroforestry or sustainable land management will be considered an asset.
Experience:
Candidates should have at least 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in agroforestry, sustainable agriculture, or environmental management. Experience working with rural communities and knowledge of local agricultural practices in El Salvador will be highly regarded. Previous involvement in UNDP projects or similar international development initiatives is a plus.
Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in the region. Proficiency in English is desirable but not required. Knowledge of indigenous languages spoken in the Ahuachapan area would be an added advantage.
Additional Notes:
The contract duration for this position is estimated to be 338 calendar days from the signing of the contract. This is a full-time position, and candidates may be recruited nationally or internationally. Compensation and benefits will be aligned with UNDP standards and will be discussed during the interview process.
