The selected candidate will be expected to engage with local stakeholders, assist in the design and implementation of agroforestry practices, and contribute to the overall objectives of the project. This role is crucial for ensuring that the agroforestry systems are effectively integrated into the local agricultural practices, thereby promoting sustainability and resilience against climate change.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Assisting in the design and implementation of agroforestry systems tailored to the local context and needs of the communities.
- Collaborating with local farmers and community members to promote the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices.
- Conducting training sessions and workshops to educate stakeholders on agroforestry techniques and benefits.
- Monitoring and evaluating the progress of agroforestry initiatives and providing feedback for continuous improvement.
- Collecting and analyzing data related to the implementation of agroforestry systems and their impact on community resilience.
- Preparing reports and documentation related to project activities and outcomes.
- Liaising with other project team members and stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.
- Supporting the project manager in administrative tasks and project coordination as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of agroforestry systems and sustainable agricultural practices. They should have experience working with rural communities and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Knowledge of climate resilience strategies and environmental sustainability is essential. Additionally, candidates should have problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Familiarity with project management principles and practices will be an advantage.
Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in agriculture, environmental science, forestry, or a related field is required for this position. Advanced degrees or certifications in agroforestry or sustainable development will be considered an asset. Candidates should have a solid academic background that supports their understanding of the principles and practices relevant to agroforestry systems.
Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in the field of agriculture or environmental management, particularly in roles that involve community engagement and project implementation. Languages:
