Job Posting Organization:
The FAO Representation in Somalia is dedicated to assisting the national government in developing policies and strategies aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Established to address national needs in security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security, agricultural development, and sustainable resource management, FAO operates through a network of five field offices and employs nearly 400 staff members. The organization focuses on providing technical support across various sectors, including livestock, crop production, and natural resource management, while also responding to emergencies and building resilience in communities.

Job Overview:
The Project Support Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting project teams in the implementation of project activities. This includes providing operational support in managing Letters of Agreement (LoA) and Letters of Understanding (LoUs), coordinating administrative tasks, ensuring timely and quality outputs, and maintaining comprehensive documentation. The incumbent will also be responsible for preparing procurement plans, assisting in procurement and distribution processes, and ensuring project visibility. This position requires close collaboration with the Agriculture Sector Coordinator and involves a variety of tasks aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of project operations in Somalia.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Project Support Assistant include: supporting the Project Manager in supervising project activities across Somalia; providing operational support to field staff and local partners; managing LoA/LoUs with partners; coordinating project administration activities; ensuring timely delivery of outputs and activities; maintaining a library of project documentation; preparing quarterly and annual procurement plans; assisting in the procurement and distribution of inputs; following up with Monitoring & Evaluation, Compliance, Finance, and Procurement Units; preparing interim and terminal reports; arranging operational support for meetings, workshops, and training; coordinating field visits for donors and FAO management; ensuring project visibility; organizing and storing reports; and performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in agricultural science from a recognized university. Additionally, a minimum of three years of work experience related to project implementation is required. Candidates must also have a working knowledge (level C) of English and Somali, and must be nationals of Somalia.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a bachelor’s degree in agricultural science from an accredited institution. It is important that the degree is recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED).

Experience:
The position requires at least three years of relevant work experience in project implementation. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to manage project activities effectively and support operational processes.

Languages:
The mandatory languages for this position are English and Somali, with a working knowledge required at level C. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication and collaboration within the project team and with local partners.
