Job Overview:
The UNDP Information Technology Management office (ITM) in New York is responsible for supporting UNDP Country Offices worldwide with IT solutions. The Portfolio Management team within ITM plays a crucial role in managing projects, ensuring proper financial management, planning, implementation, and reporting. The internship offers a stimulating and versatile experience in an international environment, allowing interns to connect with partners from 166 countries where UNDP operates. Interns are expected to work within the Eastern Standard Time (EST) zone and will be integral members of the team, contributing to global development efforts while gaining valuable experience and connections.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will assist in updating and following up on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and the IT strategy implementation plan. They will also help with customer satisfaction feedback processes, portfolio management updates, and reporting to the governance group. Interns will provide guidance to project managers as needed and assist in updating ISO processes with the owners of ITM processes and services. Additionally, they will explore new tools to enhance portfolio management and manage associated data effectively.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have experience in gathering, consolidating, and analyzing data from databases and reports. Proficiency in MS Projects or SharePoint Online is required, along with experience in using MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel. Knowledge in developing Power BI dashboards is desired, and candidates should demonstrate an interest in exploring new tools to improve Portfolio Management.

Educational Background:
Applicants must meet one of the following educational requirements: currently in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree, currently enrolled in a Master’s degree, or graduated no longer than one year ago with a Master’s degree or equivalent studies in Management, Business Administration, International Business, Development Studies, Project Management, Computer Science, or a related field. A Bachelor’s degree with an additional two years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a Master’s degree.

Experience:
Candidates should have relevant experience in data gathering, consolidation, and analysis, as well as familiarity with project management tools such as MS Projects or SharePoint Online. Experience in using MS Office applications is essential, and knowledge of Power BI dashboard development is a plus. The internship is designed for individuals who are eager to learn and contribute to the Portfolio Management team.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is required. A working knowledge of other UN languages is considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate in an international context.
