Job Overview:
The Internship Programme at FAO is designed to attract talented young individuals who are motivated to share their innovative ideas and academic experiences in the fields related to FAO's work. Interns will have the opportunity to supplement their academic knowledge with practical work assignments that align with FAO's mission. The programme aims to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals and FAO's Strategic Framework, particularly in transforming agri-food systems to be more efficient, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable. Interns will report to assigned supervisors and will be involved in various fields of work based on their profiles and the organization's needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will perform tasks as specified in the Terms of Reference (TOR) prepared by the hiring office. Responsibilities may include conducting research, assisting in project implementation, contributing to reports and presentations, and supporting various administrative tasks. Interns are expected to engage actively with their teams, share insights, and contribute to the overall objectives of the organization. They will also be involved in discussions and meetings, providing their perspectives and learning from experienced professionals in the field.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate degree programme at an accredited educational institution. They should specialize in a field relevant to FAO's mission and work. A working knowledge of at least one FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish) is required, and knowledge of a second FAO language is considered an asset. Candidates must be nationals of FAO member countries and should be aged between 21 and 3
  • Adaptability to an international multicultural environment and good communication skills are essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a strong academic background in fields relevant to FAO's work, such as agriculture, food security, environmental science, or related disciplines. Educational qualifications must be obtained from institutions recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED).

Experience:
While prior work experience is not mandatory, candidates should demonstrate relevant academic studies and a strong motivation to contribute to FAO's mission. Previous internships or volunteer work in related fields may be advantageous but are not required.

Languages:
A working knowledge of at least one FAO language is mandatory. Knowledge of a second FAO language is considered beneficial and may enhance a candidate's application.
