Job Overview:
The SRHR Integration and Emerging Trends Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of innovative health system strengthening programs aimed at improving the quality of care and increasing the uptake of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) services. This position involves ensuring that the SRHR agenda is integrated into national health adaptation plans for climate change, facilitating access to SRHR services for women and young people affected by migration, and promoting widespread dissemination of SRHR information. The specialist will also be responsible for capacity building activities for healthcare workers, ensuring they are equipped to provide high-quality SRHR care. Additionally, the role includes collaboration with various stakeholders, including government ministries, to enhance SRHR services across multiple sectors such as education, agriculture, and climate adaptation initiatives. The specialist will also engage in resource mobilization efforts and contribute to research initiatives to support evidence-based SRHR programming.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the SRHR Integration and Emerging Trends Specialist include:
  • Supporting innovative SRHR programs, particularly in the digitalization of healthcare and managing the KURA! program in collaboration with partners.
  • Working closely with the Ministry of Health to strengthen health systems by revising strategic documents and implementing health system strengthening plans.
  • Collaborating with the Health Workforce Development department to revise healthcare provider curricula to include international SRHR competencies.
  • Ensuring the implementation of the Midwifery Curricula and supporting the Global Midwifery Acceleration Roadmap.
  • Acting as the migration focal point to ensure access to SRHR services for migrants and collaborating with IOM on migration-related SRHR data.
  • Supporting the integration of SRHR priorities into national climate change adaptation plans and acting as the climate change focal point.
  • Contributing to evidence generation activities and providing technical support for SRHR programs targeting marginalized populations.
  • Producing concept notes for resource mobilization efforts.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the SRHR Integration and Emerging Trends Specialist position include:
  • A Master’s degree in health sciences, Midwifery, Public Health, or a related field with specialized knowledge in Sexual and Reproductive Health.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in SRHR, with expertise in at least two areas such as clinical midwifery, digital health, comprehensive abortion care, or SRHR integration within various sectors.
  • Proven experience working with government institutions on health systems strengthening, particularly in policy development and program implementation related to SRHR.
  • Familiarity with the national health system and policy landscape in Rwanda or similar contexts, including knowledge of key stakeholders and SRHR priorities.
  • Understanding the impact of climate change on SRHR and experience in integrating climate adaptation strategies into SRHR programs.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with experience in conducting SRHR-related research and evidence generation.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in health sciences, Midwifery, Public Health, or a related field that provides specialized knowledge in Sexual and Reproductive Health. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of SRHR and effectively contributing to the organization's goals.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the field of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). Candidates should have demonstrated expertise in at least two relevant areas, such as clinical midwifery, digital health, comprehensive abortion care, or the integration of SRHR within different sectors, including climate change adaptation initiatives. Experience working with government institutions on health systems strengthening, particularly in policy development and program implementation, is crucial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of other UN working languages is considered an asset. Candidates should possess the ability to write clearly and concisely, which is essential for effective communication and documentation in the role.
