In Ukraine, FAO has been active since 2003 and has significantly increased its presence and activities since the outbreak of the war in February 2022, focusing on agricultural production and food systems to support vulnerable communities.

Job Overview:
The Driver position at FAO is crucial for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of personnel and official visitors for both local and international missions. The role requires a responsible individual who can maintain the assigned vehicle in optimal condition, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations. The Driver will be expected to log all trips and vehicle usage, perform minor repairs, and assist with administrative tasks when necessary. This position is full-time and based in Lviv, Ukraine, and it is essential for the Driver to have the ability to cross the Ukrainian border when required for official missions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be responsible for the following tasks: driving FAO personnel and official visitors on local and international missions; logging official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, and vehicle expenditures; ensuring day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, including timely repairs and cleanliness; maintaining all necessary vehicle documents and supplies; following organizational and local rules in case of accidents; collecting and delivering mail and documents; assisting Field Office staff with clerical duties; and performing other related duties as requested.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements: completed secondary education; a valid Ukrainian driver’s license (B, C1, or C category); at least 3 years of work experience as a driver, preferably with a UN or NGO; fluency in Russian and Ukrainian; and must be a national of Ukraine. Additional competencies include results focus, teamwork, communication, and building effective relationships.

Educational Background:
While secondary education is the minimum requirement, a university education is considered an asset. Candidates must have their educational qualifications recognized by the World Higher Education Database (WHED).

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a driver, with a preference for those who have worked with UN agencies or NGOs. Experience in driving in various conditions and knowledge of local driving regulations are essential.

Languages:
Fluency in Russian and Ukrainian is mandatory, with a working knowledge of English (Level B) considered an advantage. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively in both spoken and written forms.
