The job posting organization is UNOPS, specifically the Water and Energy Cluster (WEC). UNOPS supports the design and management of multi-stakeholder initiatives by providing services in financial and grant management, procurement, human resources, and project management. The WEC has been involved in various projects related to water resource management, climate change adaptation, energy access, and environmental conservation under the Paris Agreement. UNOPS collaborates with numerous partners, including UN agencies, bilateral agreements, and NGOs, to enhance operational and financial management services across different regions, including Vienna and the ECR region.

Job Overview:
The Country Engagement (CE) Analyst Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting Country Engagement Specialists (CES) in their daily operations. This position involves the development of essential instruments such as reports, briefs, and communications, as well as event preparation. The CE Analyst will also contribute to Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) efforts, focusing on the collection and analysis of data relevant to the Country Engagement Strategy. The role requires collaboration across teams within the Support Unit and is designed to optimize the delivery of the Country Engagement Strategy, ensuring effective support for member countries in their climate action initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The CE Analyst Consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including creating and optimizing country mission announcements, supporting CES in preparing high-quality reports and briefs, responding to information requests, and ensuring the timely delivery of country-specific events. The role also includes gathering and validating data for M&E indicators, coordinating with staff to ensure data integrity, and updating the Partnership’s M&E dashboard. Additionally, the CE Analyst will engage in continuous learning and contribute to the CE Analyst community, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among peers.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least 2 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in a non-profit, government, or multilateral institution. Experience in coordinating with internal and external partners is essential. Demonstrable experience in research and analytics, drafting communications, and managing events logistics is highly desirable. Familiarity with Monitoring & Evaluation principles and methodologies is also required, along with strong information management skills and the ability to work under pressure while managing multiple deadlines.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in natural sciences, economics, engineering, environmental management, climate, political science, administration, finance, international relations, international development, or a related field is required. Alternatively, an undergraduate degree in a related field with two years of relevant experience is acceptable.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience, with at least 1 year in roles that involve coordination with various partners. Experience in research, analytics, and drafting communications is considered an asset, as is familiarity with event logistics and Monitoring & Evaluation best practices.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Chinese Mandarin, or Portuguese, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile.

The contract type for this position is a Local ICA retainer, with a contract level of LICA
  • The duration is for 1 year, with a maximum of 220 working days, and there is a possibility of extension based on performance and available funds.
