The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is an independent humanitarian organisation helping people forced to flee. When NRC started relief efforts after World War Two, humanitarian needs were critical. NRC is still there, protecting people forced to flee and supporting them as they build a new future. Today, NRC works in both new and protracted crises across 30 countries, where they provide food assistance, clean water, shelter, legal aid, and education.
Job Description
 
 

Generic responsibilities  

  1. Adherence to NRC policies, guidance, and procedures.
  2. Contribute to area-level CC concept note development and provide input on needs.
  3. Provide regular progress reports to Coordinator and Managers   
  4. Support and contribute to the development of a data management system through documentation, implementation, and coordination of standardized information flow of M&E activities and reporting.
  5. Playing a lead role in the design, development, management, and improvement of data management systems including database and spreadsheets, along with the related process for data collection, cleaning, and verification.
  6. Support in developing data collection methodology and tools using KOBO platform, and in actual data collection, as needed.
  7. Supporting and participating in analytical work by processing data and information in a suitable format.
  8. Capacity building and training of program staff on M&E technical and conceptual areas, as needed.
  9. Support in standardizing M&E across projects.
  10. Working with the Shelter team in order to produce reports, maps, and charts from the data.
  11. Promoting the adoption of Information Management tools and techniques by Shelter staff.
  12. Integrating, archiving, and extracting large datasets for cross-referencing and statistical analysis, designing workflows and data collection models where necessary.

    Specific responsibilities 

    • Support in developing data collection methodology and tools, and in actual data collection, as needed using KOBO platform.
    • Ensure that monitoring data are reported timely to relevant program and managerial staff, 4Ws, and weekly reports.
    • Promoting the collection of baseline data and indicators
    • Any other task relevant to the position as requested by the line manager and Coordinator. 

      Generic professional competencies for this position: 

    • Degree in Statistics, Geography, Informatic or other areas related to the position;
  13. Have at least 2 years experience of working with the KOBO application;
Experience with and knowledge of principles and current approaches to monitoring and evaluation in relief and development programs, using both quantitative and qualitative methods; Experience in data collection and analysis in Kobo System; Knowing other data and information management systems is an advantage; Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts; Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities; Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile;   Moderate level of English, both written and verbal.
