Job Overview:
The Logistics and Supply Coordinator is responsible for defining and implementing logistics, supply, and ICT strategies to support INTERSOS's mission in Afghanistan. This role involves ensuring the coherence and adequacy of logistics systems, compliance with INTERSOS standards, and fostering the development of the mission to optimize project impact. The coordinator will work closely with program and administrative staff to ensure comprehensive reporting and support for all INTERSOS activities. This position also entails managing logistics information systems, overseeing supply chain management, and ensuring effective procurement processes. The coordinator will be part of the Senior Management Team and will play a crucial role in monitoring logistics activities, providing technical support, and representing INTERSOS in relevant meetings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics and Supply Coordinator will participate in annual project planning and budgeting, monitor logistics implementation, ensure compliance with standards and protocols, and provide technical support for logistics issues. Responsibilities include managing logistics information systems, overseeing procurement performance, coordinating with finance for timely supplier payments, conducting field audits, and ensuring proper storage of project materials. The coordinator will also manage transportation, facilities, and communications, ensuring that all assets are documented and maintained according to policies. Additionally, the coordinator will oversee human resources processes within the logistics team and contribute to security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security management by monitoring risk reduction policies and ensuring compliance with security protocols.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree in Logistics and/or Supply Chain Management, with at least four years of relevant experience in logistics positions, preferably within humanitarian contexts. Extensive experience in logistics management, strong analytical and strategic planning skills, and proven management capabilities are essential. Candidates should demonstrate excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and a commitment to humanitarian principles. Experience in insecure environments and knowledge of security management principles are also required, along with a commitment to gender and diversity issues in logistics programs.
Educational Background:
A degree in Logistics and/or Supply Chain Management is essential for this position. Specialized training or certifications in logistics management or related fields will be considered an advantage.
Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of four years of professional experience in logistics roles, particularly in humanitarian settings. Previous experience in emergency response and managing logistics in developing countries is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a strong track record of effective management of logistics operations, including supply chain management, asset management, and team leadership.
Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory. Knowledge of Pashto and/or Dari is considered an added value, enhancing communication with local stakeholders and communities.

This position is based in Kabul, Afghanistan, with frequent travel to field locations. The contract duration is for 12 months, starting on 25/11/2024. The duty station is classified as a non-family duty station, indicating that staff may not be accompanied by family members.
