Job Overview:
The position of Associado/a de Engenharia Civil involves overseeing the execution and monitoring of infrastructure projects as required. The individual will provide technical knowledge and work under the direct supervision of the Project Manager. Key expectations include technical advisory in construction contracts and supervision, technical support in monitoring construction contracts regarding physical and financial progress, and ensuring quality control. The role also requires the preparation of work plans and reports, participation in project meetings, and collaboration with project coordinators to ensure that all technical documents related to project execution are prepared accurately. The work environment is flexible, allowing for a balance between office and fieldwork, and the position demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and communication.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Technical Advisory in Construction Contracts: Provide technical support for monitoring construction contracts, including measuring physical and financial progress of works.
  • Supervision Support: Assist in the oversight of supervision contracts, reviewing reports from the supervision team, and ensuring quality control measures are adhered to.
  • Document Review: Review all documents related to construction and supervision contracts, including budgets and change requests.
  • Solution Proposals: Propose solutions for the execution of works and ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental, and quality plans.
  • Methodology Development: Support the development of methodologies for monitoring works, including participation in training workshops.
  • Work Plans and Reports: Assist in preparing work plans for all project activities and report directly to the Project Coordinator and Project Manager.
  • Progress Reporting: Create progress reports and any other reports requested by the Project Coordinator or Project Manager.
  • Meetings and Site Visits: Participate in meetings, site visits, and support activities for the Project Coordinator and Project Manager.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Project Coordinator and Project Manager to prepare technical documents and participate in planning, monitoring, and evaluation meetings.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires proficiency in producing reports using computer tools such as Google Sheets and Google Docs. Candidates must be able to prepare progress reports on assigned projects using Google Slides and conduct presentations both in-person and virtually via videoconferencing. The role necessitates regular contact with various stakeholders related to the projects, requiring strong communication skills. Additionally, candidates should be capable of planning, developing, and delivering training sessions for project staff, both in-person and online. Field trips to construction sites are also a requirement, which may involve travel to various locations.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma, with a bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field being advantageous and potentially substituting for some years of experience. Candidates without a bachelor's degree but holding a technical diploma will be considered if they have an additional four years of experience. Registration with the relevant professional council is highly recommended.

Experience:
A minimum of 6 years of experience in infrastructure projects is required, depending on academic qualifications, with a preference for experience in health or educational infrastructure. Familiarity with Office Package or G-Suite is valued, and prior experience working with a UN agency is considered a plus. Certification in peer review is also an advantage for this position.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese (reading, writing, and speaking) is mandatory. Intermediate proficiency in English or Spanish for reading, writing, and oral communication is desirable.

Additional Notes:
The contract type is Local ICA Support at the LICA-6 level, with an indefinite duration subject to organizational requirements, availability of funds, and satisfactory performance.
