Job Overview:
The Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP)/Governance Technical Director will play a crucial role in the anticipated USAID Democratic Guatemala Governance for Local Development Project. This project aims to enhance local socioeconomic development, promote sustainable local development, and support improved and decentralized public services. The DCOP will provide expert advice to ensure that the project aligns with its objectives and best practices. Under the direction of the Chief of Party, the DCOP will manage and provide strong technical support for the project implementation, ensuring that all activities are executed effectively and meet the established targets. The role requires a passionate and dedicated professional who is committed to building a world of expanded opportunities and resilience.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The DCOP will oversee technical teams and the implementation of technical activities. Responsibilities include providing day-to-day technical leadership, managing project activities, supervising and mentoring technical staff, ensuring timely and high-quality achievement of targets, and maintaining alignment with USAID and local best practices. The DCOP will also lead project review sessions, build relationships with stakeholders, and represent Global Communities at various meetings. The role requires a strong focus on operational management, including assuming the Chief of Party role when necessary, ensuring accurate reporting to USAID, and promoting the organization's values among project staff.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field such as international development, public administration, political science, or law, along with a minimum of 8 years of experience managing multi-sectoral projects. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience is acceptable. Candidates should have significant experience in technical areas related to governance and anti-corruption, as well as demonstrated knowledge of USAID policies and strategies. Strong interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills are essential, along with the ability to build effective working relationships with various stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in a relevant discipline is required, or a Bachelor's degree with extensive experience. The educational background should be related to international development, public administration, political science, or law, ensuring that candidates have the necessary theoretical knowledge to support their practical experience in governance and development.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 8 years of experience in managing multi-sectoral projects, with a strong preference for those who have worked in a USAID-funded program. Experience in Central America, particularly in Guatemala, is highly preferred, along with a proven track record in leadership positions involving the administration of international donor-supported programs.

Languages:
Full professional proficiency in Spanish is mandatory, with a working knowledge of English preferred. This language requirement is crucial for effective communication with local stakeholders and project participants.
