Job Overview:
The internship opportunity is situated within the Directorate of Navigation at the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) in Noordwijk, Netherlands. The primary focus of this internship is on AI-Driven Document Integrity Validation Development. The role aims to enhance the efficiency of managing classified information by reducing the manual effort currently required. Interns will work on developing an artificial intelligence model that automates control checks for documentation, ensuring compliance with established requirements. This position offers a unique chance to engage with cutting-edge technology while contributing to the mission of the ESA Directorate of Navigation, which is to lead the design and development of European-owned Global Navigation Satellite Systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for creating an offline artificial intelligence model that evaluates document compliance with specific requirements. They will also need to understand the deployment needs for tools in both standard and classified IT environments. The role involves learning about the limitations associated with handling classified information and developing a model that can recognize marking labels and document metadata across various pages. Interns will be expected to collaborate with team members, contribute to discussions on operational efficiency, and provide insights into continuous improvement processes.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be university students, ideally in their final or second-to-last year of a Master’s level course. They must remain enrolled at their university for the entire duration of the internship. A good command of English or French is mandatory, while knowledge of additional languages from ESA member states is considered an asset. Basic knowledge or training in security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">information security and auditing is advantageous, as is familiarity with software development.

Educational Background:

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandated, any background in software development, information security, or auditing will be beneficial. Interns should be prepared to engage in a learning environment where they can apply their academic knowledge to practical challenges.

The working languages at ESA are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these languages is required for the position. Additionally, proficiency in another language from an ESA member state would be advantageous, enhancing communication within the diverse team.
