Job Overview:
The Intensive Case Management (ICM) Caseworker plays a crucial role in addressing the barriers to safety and wellness faced by particularly vulnerable populations, including refugees, asylees, and other individuals eligible for Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) services. This position requires a strengths-based, client-centered approach to case management, focusing on single-headed refugee households, survivors of domestic violence, older refugees, youth without guardians, and those facing mental health challenges or physical disabilities. The ICM Caseworker will collaborate with clients, colleagues, and external partners to create tailored service plans that align with individual client needs and preferences, utilizing a comprehensive array of services and resources.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The ICM Caseworker's responsibilities include determining client eligibility for ICM programming through intake assessments, developing individualized SMART self-sufficiency plans, and evaluating client progress every six months. The caseworker will assist clients in navigating healthcare and social service systems, conduct community outreach, and maintain a robust network of service providers. They will provide clients with orientation on various topics, respond to client crises, assist with financial assistance requests, and maintain accurate documentation in client case files. Additionally, the caseworker may train and lead volunteers and interns, and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong relationship-building, diplomacy, and networking skills, with a proven ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment. A self-starter mentality with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks is essential. Attention to detail and accuracy in work is crucial, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and digital tools for data entry and research. A valid driver's license and access to a personal, insured vehicle are also required.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, or a related field of study is preferred for this position. This educational background equips candidates with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively support vulnerable populations and navigate the complexities of case management.
Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 1-2 years of case management experience, particularly with populations similar to those served by the ICM program. Experience with housing and rental assistance programs is strongly preferred, as it enhances the caseworker's ability to assist clients in securing stable living conditions.
Languages:
Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is required. Proficiency in additional languages spoken by the client group, such as Dari or Pashto, is preferred and would be beneficial in effectively communicating with clients from diverse backgrounds.

The position offers a combination of standard office work, remote work, and field time within the service delivery area. It may require occasional weekend and evening work.
