Job Overview:
The ICLA Community Mobilizer position is designed to support the implementation of community-based activities and interventions in alignment with NRC's policies and guidelines. The role involves engaging with local communities, particularly with refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs), to understand their needs and facilitate access to NRC services. The mobilizer will be responsible for executing tasks according to organizational priorities and standards, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with community members and stakeholders. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances in the field. The mobilizer will also play a crucial role in promoting NRC's work and fostering relationships within the community to enhance service delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure adherence to NRC policies, tools, manuals, and guidelines.
  • Support the implementation of community activities and community-based intervention approaches.
  • Execute tasks according to organizational priorities and standards.
  • Take initiative in resolving daily problems in accordance with agreed procedures and priorities.
  • Ensure proper filing of documents related to community activities.
  • Promote and share ideas to strengthen the functions of the role.
  • Conduct visits to local communities and foster contact with residents, including refugees and key local populations.
  • Share information gathered from community members with the ICLA team regarding their situations, needs, and community characteristics.
  • Assist in linking refugees and local communities with available NRC services and other service providers. 1
  • Support the ICLA team in executing community work activities and work plans. 1
  • Provide basic information to communities about NRC's work and communication mechanisms. 1
  • Deliver information to refugees about services of interest and share relevant requests with the ICLA team. 1
  • Share information with the ICLA team about identified community actors and leaders who can support organizational activities. 1
  • Prepare activity reports and provide verification means generated from community visits and contacts. 1
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor to meet job objectives.

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience working in social and community contexts.
  • Previous experience in complex and changing environments.
  • Knowledge related to the responsibilities of the position.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to promote teamwork and collaboration.
  • Individuals with a vocational orientation towards social and community work.
  • Participation in social and community processes is preferred.
  • Interest in working on issues related to Human Rights and vulnerable groups/minorities.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with individuals and provide information effectively. 1
  • Familiarity with the local context and communities is essential.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background in social sciences, community development, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of community dynamics and social issues affecting vulnerable populations.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of experience working in community mobilization or related fields, particularly in humanitarian or development contexts. Experience in engaging with refugees and IDPs is highly desirable, as well as familiarity with the challenges faced by these populations.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, and knowledge of English or indigenous languages spoken in the region is considered an asset. Strong communication skills in both verbal and written forms are essential for effective engagement with community members and stakeholders.

This position may require flexibility in working hours and the ability to travel within the local area. The role is full-time and may involve working in challenging environments.
