Job Overview: The National Vice President Programs, Healthy Living is a pivotal role within the American Heart Association, responsible for developing and leading the Healthy Living strategy. This position entails overseeing a significant portfolio of mission-based healthy living programs, ensuring that the organization meets its goals for health impact, awareness, engagement, recruitment, and retention. The role requires collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders to design and evaluate programs that effectively promote healthy living. Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and direct the implementation of a comprehensive strategic plan for Healthy Living products and programs, ensuring alignment with the AHA's mission.
Establish performance metrics for operational plans to measure achievement and success.
Manage a department of experienced professionals, providing guidance and support in their assignments.
Lead Program Advisors in creating cross-Association working groups to coordinate efforts and ensure progress towards program goals.
Act as the key point of contact for national partners, representing the AHA on healthy living issues at the national level.
Provide senior leadership with recommendations for resource development and project priorities.
Collaborate with Development teams to secure resources for executing portfolio strategies.
Perform other duties as assigned that are within the scope of the job level and family.
Required Qualifications:
MBA, MPH, Master of Science in Nutrition, or a related field.
Twelve (12) to sixteen (16) years of experience in developing business models and operational plans.
Ten (10) years of experience managing subject matter experts and operations managers.
Ten (10) years of experience in program development, planning, and management.
Eight (8) years of experience in public health or non-profit services.
Preferred qualifications include experience in fundraising for restricted initiatives and working with national level executive volunteers and boards.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced degree such as an MBA, MPH, or a Master of Science in Nutrition or a related field. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of public health and program management within the context of the AHA's mission.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have extensive experience, specifically twelve to sixteen years in relevant fields, with a strong emphasis on program development and management. A minimum of ten years managing teams and operations is required, along with a solid background in public health or non-profit services, ideally with eight years of direct experience in these areas.
