Job Overview: The Local ICA Specialist position is crucial for the financial management and operational strategies within UNOPS in Sri Lanka. Duties and Responsibilities:
Administration and implementation of operational strategies, ensuring compliance with UN/UNOPS rules and regulations in financial activities.
Coordination of budget preparation, monitoring expenditures, and providing guidance on budgetary requirements.
Management of cash processes, including liquidity management and bank relationship management.
Oversight of accounts and payments, ensuring accurate processing and reconciliation of transactions.
Facilitation of knowledge building and sharing through training initiatives and contributions to financial management networks.
Team management, ensuring high-quality results and compliance with policies and best practices.
Continuous monitoring and reporting on financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and corrective actions as necessary.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate must possess a CPA or an advanced degree in Business Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Additionally, they should have a minimum of one year of professional-level experience in accounting, particularly in project accounting and financial statement preparation within an international organization. Knowledge of UNOPS financial rules and regulations is essential, along with proficiency in ERP systems, particularly Agresso, and MS Office applications. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are also required to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
Educational Background: Candidates must have a CPA or an advanced degree in Business Management, Business Administration, or a related field. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of financial management within an international context and for effectively navigating the financial regulations and requirements set forth by UNOPS.
Experience: A minimum of one year of professional-level experience in accounting is required, with a focus on project accounting and the preparation of financial statements. Experience in providing financial management services within an international organization is highly desirable.
