The mission's primary objective is to support the peace process in South Sudan, which has been marred by conflict and instability. The mission is committed to building durable peace and supporting inclusive governance in South Sudan, a country that continues to face significant challenges in achieving stability and security.

Job Overview:
The Administrative Officer position is located in the UNMISS field office in Wau, which is classified as a non-family duty station. The role involves direct supervision by the Field Administrative Officer (FAO) and encompasses a variety of administrative and operational tasks aimed at ensuring the efficient functioning of the Field Administration Office. The officer will be responsible for coordinating operational activities, supervising administrative staff, managing budget and financial resources, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while providing support to the FAO and other sections within the Field Office. The Administrative Officer will also play a key role in staff welfare activities, human resources management, and maintaining administrative records and databases.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Administrative Officer will undertake a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: coordinating operational activities of the Field Administration Office, supervising administrative and support staff, interpreting policies and procedures, providing historical reference for record management, assisting in budget management, coordinating communication between the FAO and support sections, managing staff welfare activities, preparing periodic reports, administering human resources management, facilitating staff recruitments, providing administrative support for meetings and workshops, answering questions and requests, identifying and analyzing problems, ensuring smooth operation of office equipment, and maintaining inventory of office supplies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Administrative Officer position should possess strong organizational and communication skills, with a proven ability to manage administrative functions effectively. A thorough understanding of UN finance rules and regulations is essential, along with experience in budget management and human resources administration. The ideal candidate should demonstrate leadership capabilities, particularly in supervising staff and coordinating operational activities. Proficiency in using office software and databases is also required, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field is required for the Administrative Officer position. Advanced degrees or certifications in relevant areas may be considered an asset. Experience:
